employees demonstrate healthy living
a four-legged canine friend
named Bobby recently
made acquaintances with
acergy's Dumbarton project
team during a surprise visit.
Demonstrating acergy's
commitment to helping its
communities, the project
team, who are part of acergy
northern europe and canada,
has sponsored the training of
Bobby through the guide Dog
foundation and will monitor
his progress closely.
Following his visit, Bobby
now faces 14 months of social
training, including unsual scenarios such as travelling on buses and trains, to help
familiarise him with the outside world. Bobby will then attend a training school in
Forfar near dundee, scotland for approximately four months of further training
before being matched to a visually impaired owner. this matching process will take
into account the chemistry between the two, speed of walks and confidence.
the guide dog Foundation is a non-governmental organisation that relies upon
companies such as Acergy to fund the training of its puppies. the trained dogs
allow visually impaired people to have greater mobility and independence as well
as providing a faithful friend.
acergy asia and middle east has introduced a number of health
and well being initiatives to promote the benefits of healthy
living to employees. a health talk, flu vaccination programme,
understanding workstation ergonomics and education about food
nutrition were among the topics communicated to employees
during recent months.
Acergy people have been mirroring our commitment to health
awareness by participating in a number of challenging activities.
A gruelling 19.2km ocean swim event, from the island of rottnest to
perth, was completed by richard leetham, general manager in perth,
on 16 February. swimming alongside richard as escort for the almost
nine-hour feat was Hse manager, martin smart.
chris ratajczak, Kevin mcKendry, Kingsley wood and Harry Johnson
also entered the rottnest swim, but as a four man team representing
the perth office. with each person swimming for ten minutes in turn
and accompanied by paddler paul mooney, the team completed the
distance in 7 hrs and 24 mins.
excellent team spirit was further illustrated on 9 march as the perth
office participated in the 21st Bp corporate triathlon around langley
park. In stunning weather, Harry Johnson, Aimee crease, richard
leetham, chris ratajczak, murray connell, steven wilson, martin smart
and mark niven were joined by craig sarson of woodside petroleum for
the event which comprised a 400m swim, 10km cycle and 4km run.
It was the singapore office's turn to show sporting prowess on
23 April as 45 employees joined 12,748 other runners for the fifth annual
Jp morgan corporate challenge in aid of charity.

5.6km run in april.
two teams of acergy
northern europe and
canada employees
recently joined forces to
compete in the world's
largest relay event.
the `Holmenkollstafetten',
which is held in oslo,
annually brings together approximately 15,000
runners to complete a unique relay through the
norwegian capital's streets. each team has 15
participants, all of whom run a leg each of between
400 and 2,500m over a total course length of 18km.
For the fourth year, Acergy was represented at the
event, and once again, this year's representatives did
the group proud. In a field of around 1,000 teams, the
first team came home in 57th place within their class
with a time of 66 mins 45 secs, pursued
by the second team in 328th place, with a time of
75 mins 56 seconds.
