Australia's profile continues to grow
the perth convention centre, western
Australia, hosted this year's Australian
petroleum production and exploration
Association (AppeA) conference and
exhibition from 6-9 April.
the 48th annual event was the largest
and most successful AppeA conference
ever held, with a record number of
delegates attending the conference.
In addition to a popular stand, Acergy
presented three technical papers by Harry
Johnson, project technical manager, John
sheehan, senior project engineer and
stewart Hannay, regional training and
development manager. their presentations
covered a range of topics including
how best to apply lessons learnt from
developments in west Africa and the north
sea to help unlock Australia's complex gas
discoveries, to how to attract, retain and
develop your employees.

operators in the region including
exxonmobil, shell, chevron, woodside and

The 31st Offshore Northern Seas (ONS)
Exhibition and Conference will be held in
Norway's oil capital, Stavanger. In 2006, the
conference attracted more than 35,000 visitors,

attended this year's Underwater
technology conference (Utc), in Bergen,
norway from 4-5 June. It is one of the
largest international forums for the subsea
community.
the 15th running of Utc was themed
`do it subsea ­ forging new technology or
flirting with the past?' and was designed
to promote and stimulate debate on the
future of the industry.
In addition to a stand (see right),

show with the presentation of two technical
papers at the conference. Jean-François
saint-marcoux, group conceptual
engineering manager, provided a detailed

in his presentation while the demanding

lipski, deputy discipline manager.
operational status and field-proven
technology was the focus of the first day's
conference in which key players from
across the subsea industry presented
their experiences and case studies of
lessons learnt. As the conference moved
into its second day, the focus switched to
new developments and the drive towards
increased oil recovery.

took place in Houston, UsA from
5-8 may. more than 75,000 energy

110 different countries, attended the
four-day event, entering through the
Acergy-sponsored exhibition entrance.
otc is the premier offshore
industry event for professionals,
service industries and suppliers to
gather and discuss common issues
of ocean resource development.

Attendance in 2008 was the highest
for more than 26 years, with 2,500
