spanned more than 29 years in the
oil and gas industry.
Jean enjoyed a career in both technical
and senior management positions
around the world. from 2000 until april
2008, he held the positions of chief
operating officer and then president
with transocean in houston, prior to
their merger with global santafe.
Born in north Africa where he spent his
childhood before moving to France, Jean
was always drawn to life offshore after
his military service in the French navy.
He holds a masters degree in mechanical
engineering from École des mines de
st etienne, and is also a graduate of the
French petroleum Institute school in paris.
married with two sons, both at university,
Jean is in the process of settling his family
in london. over the years he has retained
his passion for travelling and admits to
trying to master golf for 20 years with very,
very limited success.
Jean started his career with sedco
Forex schlumberger as a Field engineer
southampton, UK, where he was involved
in geothermal drilling for a power station.
He then moved to warri, nigeria with his
family for a two-year assignment. during
his career with schlumberger he worked
in a diverse range of functions around the
world, from operations and engineering
to Human resources. His senior
management assignments included
engineering and region manager europe
& Africa. Jean ended his career with
schlumberger in 2000 as president prior
to moving to the UsA with transocean
later that year.
