following the initial roll-out phase in 2007, maps (manpower
analysis and planning system) is being extended in 2008 to
provide global support for the business.
A collaborative development between corporate Human
resources and Information management services (Ims), mAps
has been designed to support the offshore crewing group
(ocg) and engineering functions in getting the right people,
to the right place at the right time. since its launch in June
2007, more than 80 users have gone live and have all received
extensive training on the new system. most recently 20 ship
operations managers and Fleet managers were trained to gain
access to employee schedules across our vessels.
elsewhere, the implementation of mAps in engineering has
played a vital role in the success of the tAQl engineering
resource planning project; an initiative which is helping create
group-wide transparency across Acergy in terms of resource
forecasting. "mAps provides the necessary functions to
support day-to-day resource planning," said Karen vleeming,
engineering resource planner, Acergy northern europe and
canada. "the success of this tAQl project has led to an
improved understanding of individual project requirements,
more accurate forecasting and is now helping to ensure effective
resource planning."
supported by a team of super Users, led by sharron moti, the
teams have been busy populating the system with the personnel
data and schedules, including details of qualifications and
competencies, of more than 3,000 employees.
"As we look to expand the system across all regions and
add functionality the steering committee has been prioritising
areas for development," said tina Boon, Hr project leader.
"the next step is to implement mAps in our remaining ocg
office locations, namely our sharjah base in the United Arab
emirates, Asia and middle east, north America and mexico
and south America."
A financial reporting tool will be implemented towards the end
of 2008 in order to streamline the reimbursement of offshore
costs within ocg.
the introduction of an offshore time recording module should
enable a number of disparate legacy systems to be replaced by a
standardised system. "we will also start to see mAps introduced
across the Acergy fleet once it is fully live." added tina. "this will
aid the streamlining of personnel management processes, with
the overall aim of supporting the global integration of ocg."
throughout the implementation the project team will continue
to consult and take advice from people across the business with
focus on co-creating and delivering value to users. For further
information please contact the project team at mAps@acergy-
