FLOSS Magazine
Dear Readers,
Fly, fresh and ghetto fabulous is the theme
for the winter. Fashion is on the move as usual and
only the trendy can keep up. Into the picture comes FLOSS
Magazine with another smash to keep you fixed and on point during
the next few months.
I was talking to a friend about the changes I feel coming on the Hip-Hop
generation. She told me those changes I feel are due to the fact that we are in the
Age of the Aquarius. This is the time period when creativity rules, artists thrive and people
are unified by their common denominators. The Age of the Aquarius is also the time of unrest,
chaos and war. During the 60s and 70s, folks thought and acted as it was the age of the Aquarius.
During that time there was extreme racism, the Vietnam War, hippie culture and artists like Marvin
Gaye, The Beetles, Jimi Hendricks and many others. These artists were becoming immortal icons. See
the comparisons...in war, music, and fashion? The only difference then and now is Hip-Hop, a musical
art form that is loved by all races. Today with the recent noose epidemic I hope this art form known as
Hip-Hop can help our generation and the younger generation to stay away from racism and instead thrive in
the creativity of the Age of the Aquarius. Individually, you have the ability to become who you want, not what
"stereotypes" make you. Wear what you want even if it doesn't match it will still look good. It's the Age of the
Aquarius.
Our cover story this issue features non other than Trey Songz, an artist who at this point in his career needs no
introduction. I saw this first hand when at the photo shoot I asked Trey to speak to a friend of mine on the cell
phone and say hello. When he passed the phone back to me she was not only speechless but a few seconds later
I realized she was crying. She kept repeating "he's my favorite artist in the world!" Trey arrived in NY at 2am
the day of our shoot, got to queens at 3am to get his hair braided, went to 105.1 FM at 6am and Hot97 radio at
7am and finally to the FLOSS shoot at 9am. Around 12pm he had his first meal for the day. The entire time his
energy level and enthusiasm was amazing. Listening to some of the songs he had written for the album, I knew
why he was so amped. Trey Songz is not only a talent to be reckoned with, he's the future of R&B. Amongst
some other hot stories in this issue, FLOSS features new designer brands Christian Audigier and PARISH.
Our money profile takes a different perspective on fame and fortune by featuring various celebrities and
their first jobs. Some of their stories will surprise you. Check out the fashion spreads for fashion trends
and ideas. Be sure to checkout the accessories and toy story pages; any item from those pages will
make anyone happy. Can't forget the lady of the issue, Shannon; you may have seen her on the
R. Kelly "Same Girl" video, bananas.
T.I. stand up. Hold your head. Regarding the ass whipping Puff handed out a few months
ago, I say Puff defend yourself. Cats get it twisted sometimes because of the
industry, they forget we are all people. Anyway, inspiration not perspiration,
check out flossmagazine.com, come to our MLK Weekend Ski trip
with T-Pain performing. Get that Trey Songz album. I'm out to
the Cayman Islands. I'll be right back at you. Happy
Holidays be safe, stack paper "If you can't
floss, why bother"
