When you think of rhythm and blues in this
era, you think of artists such as Ne-Yo, J.
Holiday, even Keyshia Cole. But when you
get a Trey Songz record you know you are
right there in the song with him. His songs
relate to whatever is going on in some-
one's life right at that moment, but still
keeping that soulful vocal styling only Trey
could deliver. His style can be anything
from suited up or white tee down; very
versatile but always on point. At first
glance of him in his first video "Gotta
make it," he makes a white tee look oh so

says the R&B singer. Also a native of
Petersburg, Virginia, singer Tyra of country
boy fame is like family to him. Tyra and
her sister drove him to school everyday;
they are best friends. When he was a child
he did not receive any rigorous voice or
piano lessons but instead was engaged in
the normal activities for a child of his age.
His mother, however seeing his ability,
encouraged him to develop his singing tal-
ent by entering local talent shows, many
of which he won. With these victories he
began to make a name for himself unlike
most artists that said they started in the
womb, the light bulb went off at about 17
years old. That's when he met Troy Taylor,
a veteran music producer who has worked
with artists such as Pattie La belle, Lionel
Richie and Whitney Houston. Impressed
by his sultry voice, Troy Taylor encouraged
him to focus on a career in R&B music.
During the summer, Troy and Trey would
