The Older Americans Act passed in 1965, is considered the
most significant federal recognition of the needs, abilities
and privileges of people over 60 years old. The purpose of
the Older Americans Act was to provide an "aging network"
for establishment of local programs and for the development
of innovative services for the elderly.
