Doing well and doing good. At SPEA you choose from one of four
bachelor's degrees: public affairs, public health, environmental science, or arts
management. SPEA is an interdisciplinary school, so not only can you choose
from among these nationally ranked programs, you can also take advantage of
many of IU's stellar academic offerings campuswide.
Outstandingfaculty
The men and women on the SPEA faculty are teachers and doers. In outdoor
classrooms, in science labs, in corporate board rooms, in government agencies,
and in nonprofit centers, they are setting and defining agendas that affect
lives nationally and internationally. At the same time, our faculty members are
committed to hands-on learning, and they often involve undergraduate students
in their work including research in the laboratory and in the field.
Prestigiousprograms
In 2008, SPEA, along with Harvard University, earned second place among the
top public affairs programs listed in U.S. News & World Report. Two specialty
programs in SPEA ranked No. 1: environmental policy and management,
and nonprofit management. Public management and administration and
public finance and budgeting ranked third, and information and technology
management ranked sixth.
While these are graduate school rankings, the same outstanding professors who
garnered these high marks also teach our undergraduate classes. (U.S. News &
World Report
does not rank undergraduate programs in public affairs.)
TOP RANKINGS
In 2008, U.S. News & World Report magazine, in its
