SUMMER 2007
Co-op America Quarterly
Co-op America is dedicated to creating a just
and sustainable society by harnessing economic
power for positive change. Co-op America's
unique approach involves working with both the
consumer (demand) and business (supply) sides
of the economy simultaneously.
Co-op America's programs are designed
to: 1) Educate people about how to use their
spending and investing power to bring the
values of social justice and environmental
sustainability into the economy, 2) Help socially
and environmentally responsible businesses
emerge and thrive, 3) Pressure irresponsible com-
panies to adopt socially and environmentally re-
sponsible practices, and 4) Support the develop-
ment of strong, sustainable local communities.

Felix Kramer, founder of the California Cars
Initiative, stands by the plug-in electric hybrid
he helped convert from a Toyota Prius. As the
door decals proudly declare, the car averages
100 miles per gallon.
