La Trobe University overseas representatives
La Trobe has a network of representatives around the world
who can help you with your application to La Trobe University.
They can assist with your course application, documentation
verification, pre-visa assessment (if required), visa application
and pre-departure assistance. For details of representatives in

Living costs
As a guide you will need between A$13 000 and A$20 000 a year
to cover accommodation, food, transport, text books, clothing,
health services and entertainment but this can vary according to
individual circumstances. Students with families should allow at
least A$10 000 per year for their spouse and A$8 000 for each
child who accompanies them to Australia. Please note that this
does not include the cost of tuition fees.

Regardless of the time of day or night you arrive, La Trobe
International can arrange for you to be met at Melbourne Airport
(Tullamarine). You will be taken to your accommodation by a
representative of La Trobe University's airport reception agent.
Please note that you cannot book airport reception until you
have confirmed accommodation. Upon your arrival at La Trobe
University, register at La Trobe International. As part of that
process we will give you arrival, enrolment and orientation

International students can apply for a number of scholarships at

Student visas
Most students must obtain a student visa before they travel to
Australia. It is your responsibility to ensure you obtain a valid
passport and student visa before you enter Australia for study
purposes. Only those who fall under Assessment Level 1 can
be granted their initial student visa whilst in Australia. Visa
assessment levels are determined by country of citizenship.
Please note that student visas are issued for full-time study only.
Holders of student visas cannot choose to study part-time.

Students with school-aged children
If you have school-aged dependants accompanying you to
Australia, it is a visa requirement that you must enrol them in
primary or secondary school and pay school fees, unless you are
the recipient of an Australian government scholarship.

so you have somewhere to stay while you settle into your new

Welcome Festival orientation
It is compulsory for all new international students to attend the
Welcome Festival orientation. Why? Because studies have shown
that it assists students in their transition to life and study in
Australia and at La Trobe University.
There are loads of information sessions, exciting events and
heaps of opportunities to meet students, staff, and to make
friends. Best of all, there's free food, activities and a great
La Trobe satchel for those who attend.
