Why is optimizing the PDF necessary?
PDFs that are created for high-quality printing are larger files with the risk that readers will not download your PDF when visiting the online publication.
PDFs for high-quality printing can create problems in the process of converting the PDFs to online publications, and the system will stop the process.
It takes approximately 5 to 10 minutes to reduce and optimize your PDF by changing a few settings before the upload.

IMPORTANT:
The allowances for PDF pages and file sizes
You can upload a PDF that has 360 pages and is 125 MB in file size after paying a license fee, and without the fee, you can upload 100 pages and 25 MB in file size
The system does not convert your PDF if file size and page numbers do not comply with the rules

reduce the PDF file size!
Prepare your PDF before uploading
There are some general considerations that you should take to get the best result when publishing online publications.
Upload only one file with all content
To keep the structure for internal and external search in your PDF, upload only one file in correct order after the conversion...
Remove security settings before uploading
We respect the security settings, and the system will refuse to convert if you have inserted security settings before uploading.
Make all pages in the same size
The size of the front page is important since the other pages will have the same size.
If the front page is double-sided or in a smaller format, the other pages will be blurry.
Avoid a blank page on the back
Upload an even number of pages (e.g. 8, 12, 14, or 48 pages) to avoid the last page being blank.
It is free to insert an extra page before uploading to avoid a blank last page.

All pages in the same size
All pages will have same page format as the size of the front page.
Avoid a blank last page.
Prevent a blank last page; always use an even number of pages.
Limit your PDF´s file size
Your readers will not download a large PDF; reduce the file.
Improve the layout and page format
Online publications give you more options compared to a traditional print design, and you can create campaign and landing pages with interactive web elements.
Be creative and take advantage of all the features on your account.
Page format should be A4/letter format
The page size should be in A4/letter portrait, and your readers should be able to view it without zooming.
Font sizes must be readable
Computer monitors do not display the text clearly when the font size is too small, and at a minimum, we recommend using 12px in font size.
Do not use images, but "real" text
Internal search and search engines cannot index text when it is in images.
Embed all fonts used with your PDF
Save time and embed fonts in your PDF. Even though the UniFlip system has more than 25,000 different fonts, some may not exist.

Embed Fonts when Saving
When saving PDF, you should always embed the fonts.
Reduce file size and optimize your PDF!
Before uploading, you must change a few settings in Acrobator in your text editor application before uploading.
Reducing and optimizing your PDF will give your online publication the best result and quality.
Reduce Print Quality (DPI)
PDFs meant for high-quality print often have a very high print quality (up to 1200 DPI), but computer monitors and printers are not very detailed, so change this to a maximum of 144 DPI.
Compress the size of your PDF file will have your readers download the PDF, and the loading goes faster, without losing quality.
Save in RGB Not CMYK Color
RGB is for images on computer monitors and ordinary printers, and CMYK colors are used for high-quality printing.
RGB reduces the file size of your PDF significantly, and due to the limitations of computer monitors, there is no reason to use CMYK colors.
Changing from CMYK to RGB reduces the size of a PDF by more than 70%, and it will take only 5-10 minutes to do.
See the Guide on the Right-hand Side
Reduce the size of your PDF by more than 70% in only 5 to 10 minutes.
Your readers do NOT download large PDFs from your online publication.
You get better results, with a significantly smaller file size, and save a lot of time!
Select the Correct Print Quality (DPI)
PDF meant for high-quality printing are set higher than 144DPI
Always Save in RGB Colors
CMYK is for digital printing and RGB is for the web.
Clean up your PDF for high-quality printing!
If your PDF has been used for high-quality printing, it often contains hidden text, transparent layers, masks, and other objects.
To make text and links visible to search engines, make sure that theese transparent layers and masks do not cover the PDF´s content.
Save time and get the best results by making a quick cleanup of your PDF before uploading it to the system!
Remove all transparent layers and masks from your PDF
Transparent layers and masks hide links, texts, and other items, and may cause some problems:
- Text and elements are not visible to search engines and result in blank pages.
- Hyperlinks do not work after the conversion when transparent layers and masks cover them.
- The system does not finish the conversion because the transparent layers and masks hide the content and structure of your PDF.
Remove transparent layers and masks before uploading your PDF.
Remove hidden text and other content
Clean up any hidden text and other content because search engines will include the hidden texts from your PDF by searches.
Hidden files and content can also cause the system to stop the conversion process.
We focus on the importance of keyword optimization, and therefore, there should not be text and content that is not relevant to the search engines.

Activation of hyperlinks after uploading!
If you have embedded web links, links to specific pages or emails in your PDF the system activate all hyperlinks after transforming the PDF to an online e-publication.
You can manually insert and change any links on your account after the conversion of the PDF. See where on the right side.
If you cannot get links to work, the reasons are often the following:
- The link has been set up without using the link tool in your editor application.
- The transparent layers and masks hide links on the page, as the PDF is set up for a high-quality print, read more »
You can also copy links and import links from a previous e-publication on your account.
